USA, directed by Blair dorosh-walther

Mad Cow’s rating: 

When the report of a “gang of lesbian killers” beating up a guy in the West Village first broke, surely most lesbians knew immediately that the story wasn’t true as described. Self-defense? Maybe, if it happened at all. Brutal crazed attack? No way. This is the story of four of the seven young Black women accused. (Three pleaded guilty and were set free right away; dovish-walther doesn’t tell us what happened to them.) These women, who had frequently traveled from New Jersey to hang out in New York, were severely damaged by the criminal “justice ” system in New York City. All served time while they and their families suffered. The evidence clearly pointed to their innocence but that didn’t really matter. This movie is a “must see” for all who seek to change our homophobic, racist, misogynist system and for all who doubt that we have one.

The film gets three stars from me because dorosh-walther for some reason muddied the waters at the beginning regarding some exculpating evidence that she doesn’t explain until the end. The confusion was unnecessary even if it led to more outrage in the long run.
