Mad Cow’s rating: three cowbells

To be a photographer in Afghanistan is not an easy occupation and often it’s a dangerous one. In this movie we see four photographers who do this work. Farzana is the leading photographer of women, since men cannot take photos of women. Her husband Massoud took a quite famous photo of the aftermath of a suicide bombing. We see what life was like before the Taliban and hear discussions of what life was like when the Taliban took over and literally outlawed photography. These talented journalists are our windows to the world.
